Whew! I am glad Halloween celebrations are behind me. My least favorite “holiday” celebration. It seems the “trick or treat” trend is dying down in my neighborhood. A contributing factor may be the high cost of anything in the category of food today. Those who purchased a lot of candy are complaining on the neighborhood app, that they had few or no trick or treaters show up.
I also saw a Ring camera video of a car pulling up in front of a house; two individuals who appear to be in their late teens jump out and take/steal ALL the candy. Why are people surprised when individuals dressed like witches do not act like angels 😊I also saw on camera, three individuals dressed all in black, again appearing to be in their late teens, fill up their bags from a basket in front of someone’s house, leaving little or nothing for others. There is clear evidence of a lack of caring or love for others. Well, as I said, I am glad the “holiday” is behind me. Now I can look forward to my two favorite holidays, Thanksgiving and Christmas.
I joined the discussion on the Next-Door app and wrote… “some Christians do not celebrate Halloween.” I did not make it personal because I did not want to spend the rest of the day fighting Trolls. Someone responded… “I am a Christian I go to a Catholic Church and I celebrate Halloween.” Well, I did state “some Christians”. Then I started thinking about the difference between religion and relationship. Many people consider themselves to be Christians even though they do not have a personal relationship with Christ. In order to have a personal relationship with Christ, a person must be born again. It is therefore possible for a person to attend church on a regular basis and not be born again. A person like this would be considered religious. It is easy to become born-again… we just have to confess that we are a sinner, ask Jesus to forgive us of our sins and to come into our lives.
Jesus will come into our lives in the form of the Holy Spirit. He will indwell us and teach us about the things of God. Then we will be able to hear the voice of Jesus.
Here in Florida, we do not have pronounced seasons as they do up north. However, I can feel a change in the air, that reminds me Thanksgiving and Christmas will be here soon. I would much prefer to have Carolers at my front door requesting figgy pudding, than to have trick or treaters demanding candy. 😊
