When we read the book of Revelation, we see that there will be very horrific times still to come upon the earth. It is summed up in this statement…men will seek death and death will flee from them. (Revelation 9:6). That really brings home the level of distress the world will experience. So, what should those who belong to the Lord feel at this time? Well, for one thing, we know that no political party is going to solve the world’s problems. On the contrary, it seems that the rulers of the world will be instrumental in ushering in the rule of the Antichrist.
The name Antichrist says it all. He will embody the opposite of Jesus Christ. He will be full of hatred for mankind and serve only himself and satan. The Bible tells us that He will deceive many. In fact, if it were possible, he would fool the very elect. (Matthew 24:24). He will be preceded by many false prophets and false Christs. This deception is already taking place in the world today. The Bible tells us that the “elect” will not be fooled. The elect is those whom God has chosen to be His. Why will the “elect” not be fooled? The “elect” has the Holy Spirit, the “Spirit of Truth” living on the inside of them. He will lead them into all truth.
God’s people must be ready for Jesus’ soon return. We must try with the help of the Holy Spirit to live lives that are pleasing to God. We don’t want Jesus to find us actively living in sin when He returns. We must be quick to confess our sins and have a heart’s desire to live Godly lives. I recall, many years ago, when I still desired to have a husband, I went on a date. He took me to a nightclub. When I entered, I saw people dancing on tables. People taking body shots off others. The level of debauchery was over the top. Visions of the children of Israel worshipping the golden calf flashed before my eyes.
I thought…what could I say in my defense if Jesus was to come back right now and find me in this place. I could not get out of that place fast enough 😊
Now that I am much older, a lot of the things that tempted me when I was younger no longer do so. First, I do not have the energy level I once had. I could stay up all night, get little or no sleep and go to work the next morning. Now, I look forward to retiring to bed for a good night’s sleep after a quiet evening at home 😊
I believe the Lord is going to take His church out of the world before He unleashes His punishment on those who have rejected Him. The same way He took Noah; the same way He took Lot, out of the way of His judgment. We need only look up, for our redemption draws nigh.
