He tries to replace the celebration of Easter with bunny rabbits and easter eggs. These things have nothing to do with the true meaning of the Easter celebration, which is the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ. However, it does give those who do not want to celebrate Christ something else to do.
Then for Christmas, he presents Santa Claus. Kids have the ability to believe without seeing. They believe in the tooth fairy, they believe in Santa Claus. These beliefs come from being told by adults that these things are real. Many children can go through Christmas celebrations without knowing about the true meaning of the Holiday. These parents will be responsible for misleading their children and not sharing the truth of Jesus’ birth and His purpose on earth with them.
Then, to top it off, satan has his own celebration. It is called Halloween. If you are unsure if you should celebrate Halloween. Ask yourself this question: Would Jesus celebrate it? Is Jesus represented in this celebration? How many children do you see dressed up like Jesus, the apostles, the three wise men, etc. Let us not kid ourselves, the focus is on the things of darkness: witches, skeletons, scary stuff. We may try to kid ourselves into participating with our children by dressing them in “cute” costumes, however, they are helping to promote a celebration that is about the things of darkness.
I have never allowed my children to participate in Halloween celebrations. It is a time when those who are unenlightened can revel in the things of satan. The message of Jesus is not the theme of Halloween. In fact, Jesus is far removed from all the activities. Many people do not realize that there really are evil spirits in the world that do wicked things. Why would an enlightened Christian want to promote this. Is it FOMO? (Fear of missing out). I look at Halloween as an inconvenience. I feel sorry for the little children who are not being taught by their parents to fear God and to have a reverence for the things of God.
Jesus has sacrificed so much for me. He laid down His life for me on a cross, so that I could be His child. I should be able to “sacrifice” participating in a celebration that is contrary to Him and brings Him no honor.
