The devil not only accuses us to God as he did Job, but he also accuses God to us. He did not end doing this after the Garden of Eden when he said, “yeah has God said”. He is constantly twisting God’s words. Have you ever heard someone quote a verse from the Bible, taken out of context, to justify a sin they wish to indulge in? That is the devil at work. He is the father of lies. He tries to tempt us with sin. Some people are so caught up in his web of lies that they have closed their minds to the truth. You can show them the truth in the Bible, and they will go out of their way to discredit what you say. They would much rather fool themselves, in order to feel they do not have to change.
One simple test to discern if something is of God is to ask, “is this rooted in love?”. If it is not rooted in love but in hate it is not of God. God who has told us to love even our enemies is not going to tell us to hate our brothers and sisters in Christ.
Once we are fully aware of just how much God loves us, it makes it easier for us to obey Him. He does not tell us to do things for His benefit but for our own. Unforgiveness in our heart does not harm the person we have chosen not to forgive but robs us of our own inner peace. They will be going about their life oblivious to your inner hatred. One way to forgive is to pray for the person who wronged you. I don’t mean praying that God would strike them with a lightning bolt 😊but that He would open their eyes to see the error of their ways and, if they are not saved, that He would save them. Salvation is the basis for a person changing their wicked ways.
We will not know the full scope of what God has done for us, this side of heaven…the many dangers He has protected us from; the traps and snares that He helped us to avoid. We can only thank Him knowing that He is constantly at work on our behalf. We will live much happier if we are thankful for what we have, instead of focusing on what we want.
Peace comes when we learn to trust God every day, just as a newborn baby trusts in its caregivers for its wellbeing. The difference is that we know God is a good Father, protector, provider, defender, and has all power to accomplish whatever He pleases to do on our behalf.
