Remember the God of the past

ne of my favorite things when I was a child, was to sit around and hear people talk about how things were back in their youth. I remember my dad describing times to me as he grew up in a small town in North Carolina. My mom would share times from her childhood on many occasions as well. I used to always be fascinated as they described how they lived without many things, like computers.

It was always interesting to hear my grandfather talk about his time playing baseball. He would share stories about his past growing up in the same small town my dad was from. He would often share so many details that I only wish I could remember now that I am older.

But I will never forget the many occasions when they shared stories about how God had done things for them in the past. I remember my dad sharing times as a young preacher and how he relied on God to help him. I remember many others sharing similar stories from their past.

Most scholars believe this Psalm was written after the return from the captivity of Babylon. It would only be fitting, seeing as how the psalmist writes that God had blessed them in the past, and he was convinced he would continue to bless them in the future.
