The fall of mankind began with one woman’s disobedience. The redemption of the world began with one woman’s obedience. Eve was deceived by satan and believed him over what she had been told by God. She thought that the message satan gave her was truthful while it was nothing but a snare. Satan has despised man from the day we were created by God. His mission, to steal, kill and destroy and that mission continues until this day.
God proclaimed a curse upon the serpent/satan. Genesis 3:15 “And I will put enmity between you and the woman, and between your offspring and hers; He will crush your head, and you will strike his heel.” The redemption of the world began with one woman’s obedience. When the angel Gabriel revealed God’s plan to Mary, she said…”Be it unto me even as you have said” (Luke 1:38). The striking of Christ’s heel refers to His death on the cross. The crushing of satan’s head refers to Christ’s triumphant resurrection and defeat of satan’s reign in the earth.
Today, we can be redeemed from the curse of separation from God brought about by the disobedience of Adam and Eve in the garden of Eden. We just have to, first of all, acknowledge our sinful nature, acknowledge that we have sinned, and then by faith accept the forgiveness of sins provided by Jesus’ death and resurrection. God put all the sins of the world on Jesus. He paid the price for our sins so we would not have to. After His resurrection Jesus said, “all power is given unto me in heaven and in earth” (Matthew 28:18).
Unbelief in God’s word brought about the fall of man; faith in God’s word brings about redemption. Satan, a fallen angel, brought a false message to Eve in the form of a serpent. Gabriel, an angel in good standing with God, brought a true message to Mary (Luke 1:31-33). Mary’s acceptance of the angel’s message led to the birth of Jesus.
Eve produced the first murderer in her offspring; Mary produced the Savior Jesus Christ.
