Paul wrote when I am weak then am I strong (2 Corinthians 12:10). When we feel that we are not capable of doing something on our own, is when we rely on God. It is no coincidence that Moses whom God chose to bring a message to Pharoah was “slow of speech.” He probably stuttered. Moses had been prepared, even before birth for the role he would play in God leading the children of Israel out of Egypt. Moses had to rely on God to help him bring God’s message to Pharoah. This allowed God to work through Moses’ mouth.
Today, God still chooses to use people who need Him in order to do the work He has called them to. When we are convinced that we can handle things on our own, we will not feel the need for God’s input.
Most of us will find ourselves closest to God during times of trial when we desperately need His help. God says in the bible, you will seek me and will find me when you search for me with all your heart (Jeremiah 29:13). I recall having done something wrong. Something that apparently grieved the Holy Spirit. Normally, I can feel the presence of the Holy Spirit, but the feeling changed. I did not feel as if the Spirit had left me, but that His presence was diminished. Some might describe the feeling as a fish out of water.
I started repenting in earnest seeking to feel the presence of the Holy Spirit as I had before. While in that state of seeking forgiveness and the renewal of the strong feeling of the Holy Spirit’s presence, the Spirit spoke to me clearly, outlining something I had been seeking guidance on for some time. This let me know that I was forgiven; and the presence of the Holy Spirit returned as it was before.
To me, no sin, no matter how enjoyable, is worth quenching the Holy Spirit. I need the guidance of the Holy Spirit every day or I will be sure to make many mistakes. Pray for His guidance, He will lead you in the right paths and your life will be blessed.
