Most of us are familiar with the story of the woman who touched the hem of Jesus’ garment. She had visited many physicians without success. She purposed in her heart to touch the hem of Jesus’ garment as she believed that it would be sufficient to heal her.
She made her way through the crowd determined to accomplish this. Jesus was surrounded by many people so it must have taken quite a bit of determination for her to get to Him. Finally, she got to Jesus, she reached out her hand and touched Him. She had been suffering for over 12 years and now she was instantly healed.
Jesus stopped and asked, “who touched me”. The disciples were surprised by this question. Anyone could have touched Him as He was surrounded by people (Luke 8:45). Luke 8:46 But Jesus said, “Someone touched me; I know that power has gone out from me.” Wow! Think about that…Jesus contained the power to grant to anyone who had the faith, the means to receive their request. He did not have to pray specifically for this woman; she just had to access her healing by her faith.
Here we see faith in action. By this, we know that if we ask anything in accordance with His will, it will be granted. It is His will for us to be healed. We read in the scriptures where Jesus went about healing ALL that were sick. Faith unleashes God’s power. The opposite is also true, without faith it is impossible to please God. We are saved by faith, and we access all that we need from God by faith. The bible tells us that if we ask anything in accordance with His will, He hears us. What is His will…that we should be free from sickness, that we should prosper and have all our needs met, that we should be wise and grow spiritually, that no weapon formed against us should prosper.
The same power that was released from Jesus to heal that woman is available to us today, to supply all our needs. We need only believe.
