What is “substance”? The dictionary describes it as “the real physical matter of which a person or thing consists and which has a tangible, solid presence”. Faith, by definition, is a tangible thing. That means it has specific properties. In the unseen realm faith is as real as matter is in the seen realm.
Faith is the currency of the spiritual (unseen) realm. We use faith to create things in the spiritual realm. We can also use faith to move things from the spiritual to the natural realm. The bible tells us that if we have faith as a grain of mustard seed, we can say to a mountain be removed and cast into the sea and it will be done, as long as we do not doubt in our heart. (Matthew 17:20). Jesus was using this illustration to show the power we possess when we exercise our faith. He was not literally telling us to rearrange the landscape. Another aspect of mountain moving faith is that it is spoken.
Jesus said we can “say” to a mountain. Faith is most powerful when spoken. God spoke the world into existence; He created something out of nothing. He said, “let there be light” and there was light. This same God lives inside us when we invite Christ into our hearts and lives. This means that our spoken words have power. Our words have creative power. We are able to speak the life we wish to live into existence, by speaking it out in faith.
Conversely, we can speak negativity and doubt, and it will impact on our lives in a negative way. How do we acquire this faith? The bible tells us that “faith comes by hearing and hearing by the word of God.” (Romans 10:17). In other words, we need to know what we can have faith in. We can have faith in all the promises of God, for He is not a man that He should lie. He has promised to provide all our needs, He has said that if we ask anything according to His will, He hears us (1John 5:14-15). If we know that He hears us, we know that we have our petitions. Once we know that God hears us and is granting our requests we can speak them into existence.
I notice that my life became more abundant when I started saying positive affirmations every morning. Wishing and hoping does not have power. The spoken word has power. It is so important for us to read and study the bible so we can become familiar with all the promises God has made to us, His children. For all His promises are yeah and amen
