Luke 5:4-6 When he had finished speaking, he said to Simon, “Put out into deep water, and let down the nets for a catch.”

Simon answered, “Master, we’ve worked hard all night and haven’t caught anything. But because you say so, I will let down the nets.”

When they had done so, they caught such a large number of fish that their nets began to break.

Sometimes we are in need of a divine intervention.  This happens when God intervenes and makes what seems impossible, possible.  In this instance we see where Jesus changed the outcome of Peter’s attempts at catching fish.  We have to also acknowledge Peter’s willingness to listen to the Lord’s instructions.  He did not expect to see a difference when he cast the net at Jesus’ instructions, but he said to Jesus because you said so, I will do it.  Sometimes we do not need great faith, we need obedience.  Our obedience will allow the Lord to take us from the natural to the supernatural.  The only difference between when Peter cast the net before and when he did at Jesus’ instruction was that now the net was cast with God’s blessing of provision on it.

Similarly, we may be working on what seems like a dead end job.  We may feel unappreciated and last in line for a promotion.  However, when God intervenes circumstances change.  Your boss will begin to look at you with fresh eyes.  Suddenly, things begin to change. God’s supernatural favor now resting on you will take you places you thought you could never get to.  Whatever the Holy Spirit instructs you to do, do it. You do not have to possess great faith to make the changes happen, you just have to be obedient.

Another example of Divine Intervention is when the disciples and Jesus had to pay taxes. Matthew 17:27 “But so that we may not cause offense, go to the lake and throw out your line. Take the first fish you catch; open its mouth and you will find a four-drachma coin. Take it and give it to them for my tax and yours.” Again, Jesus uses occupation, fishing, to provide for them. I can imagine Peter thinking, this is very odd what He has instructed me to do, but because He says to do it, I will.  He has never failed to come through in the past.  I know that He is a worker of miracles, so I will do what he has instructed.  This time he was instructed to use a line.  This means he could only catch one fish at a time. They did not need to catch a boat load of fish this time, just one with a coin. Likewise, God can send just one person into your life to help fulfill your destiny.  A person with the qualities needed to propel you on your way to your destiny.  I experienced this with the Real Estate agent who held my hand through the buying process, of the house the Lord had told me he was going to give me.  He was calm and assuring throughout the process.  Whenever I spoke with him, I would feel that I was on the right track and things were going turn out fine…as they did.

We can pray for a divine intervention.  Whatever obstacles we may be facing, we can ask God to intervene on our behalf.  It could be finances, health, spiritual.  God is still able to intervene on our behalf, to make what seems impossible, possible.
