Many times, in this life, we have to rely on the strength of the Lord to rise to the occasion when faced with trials. These trials can come in many different forms. It could be physical, mental, material. Paul wrote “when I am weak then I am strong”. God’s strength is far greater than ours. Therefore, when we approach things using His strength, we are much stronger. Our strength becomes supernatural. This requires surrendering our will to His.
We have many people in the world today, who use the name “Christian” to describe themselves. Christian denotes someone who lives in Christ. The same way American denotes someone who lives in America.
My son Donovan has a message to add to this post: “Matthew 7:21-23 Not everyone who says to Me, ‘Lord, Lord’ shall enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Father in heaven. Many will say to me in that day, ‘Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in Your name, cast out demons in your name, and done many wonders in Your name?’ And then I will declare to them, ‘I never knew you; depart from Me, you who practice lawlessness!’ In this scripture we see Jesus discussing how He would turn away hypocrites. These are those who perform various acts and ‘good’ deeds, but their hearts are far from God.” (the preceding paragraph is from my son).
Jesus was obedient to the Father even when He went to the cross. He had prayed “Father if it be possible let this cup pass from Me; nevertheless, not as I will but as you will.” (NKJV)Matthew 26:39). When the Father confirmed His will, Jesus went to the cross.
The bible tells us that in this world we will have tribulation. Trials come to believers and non-believers alike. The difference is, believers have access to the Holy Spirit, they have access to the Father through Christ. As the return of Christ becomes more imminent, we are faced with perilous times. Today, more than ever, we need to have a relationship with the Father through Jesus Christ. We cannot fight these battles successfully without His help.
*Please pray for all those who are in the path of hurricane Melissa. Pray also that the hurricane will lose strength and cause minimal damage.
