2 Chronicles 2:14 14 If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.

God is saying, I am willing to heal your land, if you pray. There are certain conditions that must be met, however, a turning away from wickedness is required. We can surely see in the U.S. that there are many things being done that does not meet God’s requirements. Things that would not get God’s approval. Sin is a biproduct of being separated from God. When we become born-again, we not only lose our desire to willfully sin, because it displeases God, we are also empowered to resist sin. America is in need of a spiritual revival. We need more people who seek to live as God wants us to live. More people who try to live by loving God first and others as we love ourselves.

There is also a requirement of humility. As long as we think we are fully in control of our lives and the things that life brings, we will not feel the need to enlist God’s help. It takes a certain amount of humility to give God the preeminence that He deserves in our lives. To say, God, I need your help every day. Jesus said without me you can do nothing (John 15:5). Once we come to the full realization of how little control we really do have over the things that impact our lives, we are inclined to pray for God’s guidance, protection and help.

I believe the wisdom that is found in the U.S. constitution was given by God. The country, governed by it, has become very prosperous. The constitution has served the country well. The declaration of independence states: “We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights …” While there have always been areas where improvement could and should have taken place, God has seen fit to continue to bless this country.

If we are to continue to flourish and grow as a nation, we must enlist God’s help. The challenges that we are facing are many and require His intervention. The bible tells us that the prayers of a righteous man availeth much (James 5:16). We have to take time to pray, seek God’s face, and believe that better times are ahead.
