I’ll never forget from a young age how I was taught there are consequences for every action that we take. For each word we say and every deed that we do, it is either for good or evil. That said, I have been far from perfect in my life. If we are honest, we would probably all say that.
There are many times that my actions were not representative of a Christian. Maybe I responded to a situation in a way that I was not supposed to. Perhaps I responded with words that did not share compassion and the love of God with someone. Then there are the occasions that we do something so obviously wrong that we know it is not right.
Such was the case here with David. He sinned with Bathsheba. Then he attempted to cover it up in any way possible. He knew what he did was wrong. But we find here some interesting words in that what he did displeased the Lord.
All of the things that we say and do are seen by God. Just like others may have a response to our actions, so does God. Our actions are either pleasing or displeasing to God. As you reflect on your life, what do you think that God would say about your actions? Are you trying to hide your actions from God?
Our desire should be that God would be pleased with all that we do. Our lives should be dedicated to living for Him, serving Him, and sharing a witness of God to others around us. But is that what our actions are showing?
