President Joe Biden will don a mask indoors after he was exposed to COVID-19 through his wife, first lady Jill Biden, according to the White House.
“Since the president was with the first lady yesterday, he will be masking while indoors and around people,” press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre told reporters Monday, citing Centers for Disease Control and Prevention guidance. “As has been the practice in the past, the president will remove his mask when sufficiently distanced from others indoors and while outside as well.”
Biden tested negative for COVID-19 on Monday and Tuesday and is not experiencing any symptoms, Jean-Pierre said. She added that the first lady will remain in Rehoboth Beach, Delaware, for the rest of the week.
“We will be encouraging, as I have said before, Americans to get their updated COVID-19 vaccine,” Jean-Pierre continued.
