Psalm 34:19 “Many are the afflictions of the righteous, But the LORD delivers him out of them all.”
Sometimes being a born-again Christian in this world, can feel as if you are swimming against the tide. The urge to compromise to fit in with the world is often a real temptation. Here in the U.S., we do not suffer the types of persecution experienced in other countries, for our faith. If we find it difficult to share our testimony because the person may not be receptive to what we are saying…if fear of rejection keeps us from speaking about our faith, how will we be bold when persecution is the price to pay.
I remember, when I first got saved, how bold I was. I could not wait to tell everyone that I had found the way to God. I had searched many religions and knew when I received the Holy Spirit that I had the witness in myself, that Jesus was the way to have our sins forgiven, and be reconciled to the Father.
I took my bible to work with me. I rode the bus from New Jersey to New York. That was a long bus ride and anyone who sat beside me was in for an earful about Jesus. I remember one young man who had other intentions towards me. I spoke to him briefly as we both got off the bus. He seemed to be weighing whether he wanted to get to know me or not. He asked me “are you into fun and excitement”. I said yes. He looked at my bible, looked me in the eyes and said, “I don’t think so”. 😊Jesus will either draw you or you will reject Him.
Even though I must have heard the gospel many times, it was not until an individual shared their personal testimony with me and gave me the sinner’s prayer to pray that I became born again. We may be the person who will get through to that lost soul with our testimony. If we love others as we love ourselves, we will be willing to face rejection in order that some may be saved.
