Love is the solution to the world’s problems. If the world operated in love, there would be no wars. Countries would have negotiators who could come to fair and just agreements in order to settle differences. There would be no crime. We would not steal from or kill each other. God is love and those who have received His Holy Spirit are being taught how to love. The downside, if you want to call it that, to loving others as we love ourselves, is feeling the suffering of others on a personal level. We can no longer distance ourselves from those who suffer by just not caring.
I have been feeling sorry for those who are being forcibly removed from the U.S. because they have overstayed their visas, entered on a program that has been ended, or even may have entered the country illegally. Not to condone breaking laws, but being able to empathize with the desperation that causes some people to do so.
Some people feel superior to others based on their race. Feeling superior based on race is not something anyone can earn. We have no control over where we were born and who our parents are. We can feel a sense of accomplishment based on what we have achieved in life, but to feel accomplished because of race is false.
Any of us could have been born in a country at war or one with great poverty and hardship. If we were born in one of these countries, we may seek to move to another country where there is more opportunity and a better standard of living. If the country we move to fails to roll out the welcome mat, we may feel rejected and unappreciated.
If love is our guiding principle, if we love others as we love ourselves, there will be no room for discrimination.
