Isaiah 40:31 NKJV But those who wait on the LORD Shall renew their strength; They shall mount up with wings like eagles, They shall run and not be weary, They shall walk and not faint.

“They that wait…”, “Wait” means to pay attention to. A waiter “waits” tables. In other words, a waiter serves. The word “wait” in this scripture has two interpretations: One is to “wait” as a waiter waits tables. The other is to be patient…to stay or remain in one place until something happens.

In the process of waiting on the Lord, staying in one place until something happens, we are to be patient and not anxious. The bible tells us to be anxious for nothing (Philippians 4:6-8). While waiting on the Lord, we are given renewed strength. We are given the ability to mount up with wings as eagles. The eagle is the only bird known to fly above storms. While other birds run and hide from the storm, the eagle, uses its powerful wings to fly above it, where it is peaceful.

We can run and not be weary. Paul writes in 2 Timothy 4:7 “I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith.” We all have a course that is set before us. A destiny ordained by God for us to fulfill. Not only will we be able to run the race set before us, but we will also be able to walk without fainting. Fainting would be a sign of being overcome by circumstances.

There is nothing the world can throw our way that we cannot overcome when we spend time with God. When God is our constant companion and we let Him lead and guide us, we will always be victorious.
