I have been thinking of Moses recently. I thought about how God used him to deliver the children of Israel out of Egypt. Since the day of his birth, Moses was being prepared by God for that mission. Being born at the time when Pharoah wanted all the new-born male Hebrew babies killed, paved the way for him to end up in Pharoah’s palace. His mother put him in a basket, made of bulrushes daubed it with asphalt and pitch and set that basket in the reeds by the river’s bank; in the hopes of saving his life. His sister watched to see what would happen (Exodus 2:3-4).

The fact that Moses grew up in the palace, allowed him access to Pharoah, as a child, and also when he returned to confront Pharoah about letting the Children of Israel go. Even though Moses may not have known initially that he was not Egyptian, he was predisposed to feeling compassion for the Israelites. He probably wondered, all his life, why he never felt as if he quite fit in. The same way that most of us who have come to know the Lord felt, before we realized our calling from God to be a born-again Christian.

Everything that happened in Moses’ life, good and bad were predestined by God, to fulfill his purpose. Moses was not a good orator, so he had to rely on God, when he needed to speak. When we have to rely on God, He is able to have more of an input. When Moses left Egypt because he killed an Egyptian, he fled into the desert. God waited another 40 years, before he visited Moses in the burning bush to tell him what his life’s mission was…To lead the children of Israel out of Egypt. God showed Moses his ability to work in the supernatural through the burning bush (Exodus 3:2). He turned his staff into a snake (Exodus 4:3). These miracles let Moses know that God is able to do the miraculous.

As He did with Moses, God uses all our life experiences to fulfill our destiny. These experiences may be good or bad. If we have been on the receiving end of domestic violence, we can more fully empathize with someone who is experiencing it, and since we have triumphed over it, be able to, with God’s help, give them advise on how to overcome it. If we have lived poor, we can empathize with someone who is struggling to make ends meet and, with God’s help, share with them how to go from lack to abundance. If we have experienced miracles in our lives, we can confidently tell others that God does perform miracles. They could be miracles of healing, provision, spiritual growth. None of our experiences are wasted, in the hands of the Lord.

We can be confident that God is using ALL things for our good. Yet, not only for our good, but so we can, through our experiences, be used to bless someone else.
