t
he National Archives warned President Joe Biden‘s lawyers last month that hundreds of emails related to Hunter Biden and his Burisma business deal were set to be publicly released.
Insider broke the story and said that the White House has yet to say whether Biden would stop the release of 185 email messages, and 75 partials emails by claiming executive privilege. If not, the emails will be released on February 28.
A representative for the Archives reached out to White House Counsel Stuart Delery, Biden’s campaign lawyer Robert Lenhard and top officials at the Obama Foundation on November 30 to inform them records related to Biden’s vice presidency would be released under the Freedom of Information Act.
One of the FOIA requests mentioned called for ‘records related to Hunter Biden, James Biden, and their foreign business dealings.’
James Biden is the president’s brother.
‘The Biden Vice Presidential records to be opened are email messages from May 2014 to December 2014 that include the company name “Burisma,”‘ the letter goes on.
It says that several of those messages are press inquiries after Hunter Biden joined the board of the Ukrainian energy company Burisma Holdings Limited.
Other emails are news articles White House staff compiled about Hunter Biden joining the board, the Archives’ Susan Donius wrote.
