IRS whistleblower Gary Shapley, a years-long agency veteran, has come forward to detail his claims that federal officials interfered in a tax-related investigation involving first son Hunter Biden.
Just the News first identified Shapley as the whistleblower who had alleged that federal prosecutors have engaged in “preferential treatment and politics” to prevent the president’s son from facing charges.
Shapley made his first public remarks in an interview with CBS, during which he asserted that the Department of Justice had interfered in the investigation.
“There were multiple steps that were slow-walked — were just completely not done — at the direction of the Department of Justice,” he told the network’s Jim Axelrod. “When I took control of this particular investigation, I immediately saw deviations from the normal process. It was way outside the norm of what I’ve experienced in the past.”
“For a couple years, we’d been noticing these deviations in the investigative process. And I just couldn’t, you know, fathom that DOJ might be acting unethically on this,” he also said.
