s
peaker Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) and House Republicans have overruled Rep. Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) and officially ended the practice of proxy voting.
Proxy voting was instituted by former Speaker Pelosi during the COVID-19 pandemic to allow lawmakers to vote without being present.
Both sides of the aisle abused Pelosi’s rule and McCarthy vowed to end the practice and make members of Congress “show up to work.”
Before proxy voting, Congress barely worked but with it, the place set a bad example for hardworking Americans struggling to get by in Biden’s economy.
“No more proxy voting,” McCarthy announced today.
“Effective immediately, Members of Congress have to show up to work if they want their vote to count.”
